As part of the programme, the NFC recently engaged with private sector investors to explore opportunities for developing modern cinema infrastructure in regional communities.

During a preliminary discussion held on 24 June 2026, several entrepreneurs expressed interest in constructing new cinema halls as well as modernizing existing facilities with advanced technological frameworks.

This capacity structure creates new opportunities for audiences across the country to enjoy Sri Lankan cinema in comfortable and accessible settings.

Through this initiative, the National Film Corporation seeks to support the sustainable growth of the film industry, strengthen cultural infrastructure, and bring the cinematic experience closer to communities throughout Sri Lanka.
