Guidelines for Registration of Local Films
- Every film should be registered at the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka before commencing its production. Fee for registration is Rs. 5,000/=.

Following documents should be submitted along with the duly filled Application Form:
- Certified copy of the Business Registration Certificate. (Sole Proprietorship / Partnership)
- If it is a Company, Form 01, Form 20, and the Articles of Association should be submitted in addition to the BRC copy.
- Copy of the National Identify card of the Producer/Producers.
- A declaration from remaining partners to nominate one of the partners who will be responsible for the transaction with the NFC.
- Copies of the Agreements signed with main Actor, Actress, Director, Cinematographer and Editor.
- The Synopsis of the film.
- An affidavit from the writer for the authenticity of the film script.
- Production work should not be commenced without registering the film at the NFC.
- Changes of the Ownership of the Company, Location and contact details should be informed to the NFC along with the certified copies of the relevant documents. (If any)
- If any changes of the film title, the payment of Rs. 3000/=should be made.
- If foreign artistes are in the cast/crew members, following payments
should be made to the National Film Development Fund which is attached
to the NFC.
- For a Major Role – Rs. 25,000.00
- For a Supporting Role – Rs. 10,000.00
- The approval from the Public Performance Board is needed for the exhibition of the film.
