"Cinema for Life" Short Film Workshop Held in Conjunction with the "Aluth Wassa" Kandy District Cultural Festival 2026
The annual "Aluth Wassa" Kandy District Cultural Festival 2026, organised jointly by the Kandy District Secretariat and the District Cultural Council, opened with great celebration on 15 and 16 October at the District Secretariat auditorium.
Alongside the festival, the "Cinema for Life" short film workshop was successfully conducted with the support of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (NFC).
Veteran film director Mr. Sarath Dharmasiri and officials of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka took part in the programme.
Short films that have earned recognition at international film festivals and have drawn strong audience interest were screened during the workshop.
The programme raised awareness among school students, artists, public officials and university students, and concluded successfully.
Through this initiative, the National Film Corporation provided valuable support and guidance toward building a quality and more refined film appreciation among school students, young artists and cinema enthusiasts in the Kandy area.
