Call for Entries: Sri Lanka's Official Submission to the International Feature Film Category, 99th Academy Awards (OSCARS) 2027
National Oscars Selection Committee of Sri Lanka (NOSCSL) opens the submission window for producers and rights holders of eligible Sri Lankan feature films.
The National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (NFC), the statutory authority regulating and overseeing the Sri Lankan film industry, has formally announced the Call for Entries for the selection of Sri Lanka's official submission in the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards (OSCARS), scheduled for 2027.
The process is administered by the National Oscars Selection Committee of Sri Lanka (NOSCSL) — a nine-member body of distinguished industry professionals, duly approved by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), USA. The Committee will screen, evaluate, and rank all eligible submissions before recommending a single film as Sri Lanka's official Oscar entry.
- Feature-length film (over 40 minutes) — fiction, documentary, or animated.
- First released theatrically in Sri Lanka for paid admission between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026, exhibited for at least seven consecutive days in one commercial theatre.
- Original dialogue predominantly (over 50%) in a language other than English.
- Creative control, direction, and key creative roles largely held by Sri Lankan citizens, residents, or individuals with refugee/asylum status in Sri Lanka.
- Financial ownership largely held by Sri Lankan citizens, residents, or a Sri Lankan-incorporated company.
