National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka Successfully Hosts Cinematography Masterclass 2026

The National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka successfully hosted a Cinematography Masterclass on May 16, 2026, at the Tharangani Cinema Hall. The event brought together filmmaking students, diploma holders, and undergraduates from across the country.

Renowned cinematographer Dhanushka Goonetilleke conducted the session, sharing valuable insights on global cinematography trends, international film festivals, and modern cinematic practices under the theme: “Bridging the Science and Art of the Image.”

Participants represented several leading universities, including the University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, University of the Visual and Performing Arts, and University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The programme served as a valuable platform for learning, discussion, and creative exchange.

Among the distinguished guests present were Sudath Mahadivulwewa, Chairman of the National Film Corporation; veteran actor Wasantha Kotuwella; Assistant General Manager Amila Jayakodi; President of the Alumni Association of the Filmmaking Diploma Programme, Sanjeewa Pettawadu; and Secretary Archani Heendeniya.

This masterclass is part of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka’s ongoing educational initiatives aimed at strengthening Sri Lankan cinema through knowledge-sharing and industry engagement.
