National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka to Host Cinematography Master Class 2026
The National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the NFC Alumni Society, will host the Cinematography Master Class 2026 on Saturday, 16 May 2026, at Tharangani Hall.
Held under the theme “The Engineered Aesthetic: Bridging the Science and Art of the Image,” the programme is designed to inspire emerging filmmakers and cinematographers by combining technical knowledge with creative vision.
The featured speaker, Dhanushka Gunathilake, represents the Sri Lanka Society of Cinematographers. He also serves as the Head of Discovery Campus and Project Manager of Frame Within a Frame at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival — one of Europe’s leading film industry events.
The master class will be conducted in two sessions:
9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
A dedicated cinematography workshop exclusively for NFC students.
10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
An open discussion session for invited university students.
The discussion will highlight the importance of international film festivals for independent filmmakers and will include a presentation on the Discovery Campus initiative, which supports emerging talent in accessing global festival platforms and industry networks.
