Free Medical Clinic for Cinema Artistes Successfully Held at the National Film
Corporation
A Free Medical Clinic for Cinema Artistes and Technical Professionals was successfully
conducted on Saturday, 31 January 2026, from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., at the premises of
the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, as part of the commemorative programme
organized to mark the 79th Anniversary of Sri Lankan Talkie Cinema and the 54th
Anniversary of the National Film Corporation.
The programme attracted a significant number of cinema artistes and technical
professionals, reaffirming the National Film Corporation’s continued commitment to the
welfare and well-being of the Sri Lankan cinema community.
The medical clinic was organized with the support of Thalangama Divisional Hospital, with
the dedicated participation of medical officers, nurses, healthcare assistants, and
pharmacists. Free medical services provided at the clinic included blood pressure, blood
sugar, and cholesterol testing, eye examinations, general medical consultations including
mental health counselling, and pharmaceutical services.
In addition, a Dental Clinic was conducted with the assistance of the Dental Institute of the
National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo.
Cinema artistes and technical professionals who participated in the programme expressed
their sincere appreciation for this timely and valuable initiative. Furthermore, a financial
allowance was granted to participating artistes and technicians who are members of the
National Film Corporation Trust Fund for Film Artistes and Technicians.
The National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, which remains steadfastly committed to
safeguarding the Sri Lankan film industry and its creative community, extends its heartfelt
appreciation to all medical officers, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, partner
institutions, cinema artistes, and technical professionals whose support contributed to the
successful completion of this programme.
