CALLING FOR COMMENTS, PROPOSALS AND SUGGESTIONS FROM STAKEHOLDERS IN THE CINEMA INDUSTRY

Regarding the drafting of a new Act to establish the Sri Lanka National Cinema Council.

The Government has taken a policy decision to introduce a new Act incorporating provisions that enable both the regulation of cinema and the promotion of cinema culture, while repealing the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka Act No. 47 of 1971.

Accordingly, the Corporation has decided to obtain comments and proposals from stakeholders engaged in the cinema industry regarding the drafting of a new Act to repeal the National Film Corporation Act No. 47 of 1971 (as amended by Act No. 45 of 1980) and to establish the Sri Lanka National Cinema Council. It is expected to create a strategic direction for areas not currently covered by the existing National Film Corporation Act.

Submission of Comments and Proposals

Please submit the comments/proposals of your institution/organization to reach us on or before January 31, 2026, via the following methods, to be presented to the committee drafting the new Act for the establishment of the Sri Lanka National Cinema Council:
